At the hem, the vines give way to a heavy border: rows of sitara and zari framing two broad bands of gold kairi (paisley). The choli is where the handwork shines. Its neckline, back and edges are finished by hand in aari, dabka, nakshi, sitara, beads and stones, and the full sleeves are hand-worked with lines of shisha, one row set in resham and the next in tilla. A sheer burnt-orange pure organza dupatta, rich in aari and sitara with a hand-embellished spray, completes the look.
