About Mehar Bano — Fabric, Handwork & Fit

A Bridal & Formal Lehenga for Mehndi, Dholki, Sangeet, Engagement, Nikkah & Shendi

Mehar Bano is a bottle green lehenga choli by Waqas Shah from the Taj Mahal collection, and one of our best-loved designs. Its base is built in layers: aari work in two layers of tilla, heavy glitter sequins laid over it, and coloured resham embroidery on top, so the net glows emerald under every light. Around the hem of the full kalidar lehenga rises a Mughal skyline of domes, arches and minarets, with cypress trees, flower vases and floral vines climbing each panel above it in peach, rose, ivory, powder blue and navy. The choli carries a hand-embroidered bouquet with two birds at the centre, a boat neckline finished in pearls, seed and bugle beads, cut-dana and Swarovski, and a fringe of coloured tassels at the hem. A deeper emerald organza dupatta, scattered with the same sequinned resham bootis and bordered on all four sides, completes the three-piece set. Made in our Lahore atelier for brides and their families at Pakistani, Indian and Sikh weddings.

How to Style Mehar Bano

Let the colours of the embroidery choose your jewellery: antique gold or kundan with emerald or pink stones, a matha patti or tikka, and statement jhumkas. For a bride's mehndi or sangeet, drape the dupatta across both arms and wear stacked gold bangles; for a sister or guest, pin it on one shoulder so the latkans at the back stay visible. A dewy base, defined eyes and a soft rose lip suit the jewel tone. Finish with gold khussas.

Mehar Bano — Quick Answers

What colour is Mehar Bano?

A deep bottle green that reads emerald or teal in daylight, embroidered in peach, rose, ivory, powder blue and navy. The organza dupatta is a shade deeper, so the set never looks flat in photos.

Which functions is it made for?

Mehndi, dholki, sangeet, engagement, nikkah and shendi. The jewel-tone green and colourful embroidery carry it from the first dholki night through to the nikkah.

Is it bridal wear or a formal outfit?

Both. A bride can wear it for her mehndi or engagement with full jewellery; styled with lighter pieces it becomes a formal outfit for receptions, Eid and family weddings.

Can sisters, cousins and friends wear it?

Yes. It is a popular choice for sisters, cousins, bhabhis and best friends of the bride, and for wedding guests who want colour without competing with the bride.

Can I wear it to an Indian or Sikh wedding?

Yes. A Hindu bride can wear it for the roka or sagai, mehendi, sangeet and reception, and a Sikh bride for the roka or kurmai, chunni, mehndi, jaago and reception. For family and guests it suits every function, including the pheras and the Anand Karaj.

What is the Mughal design on the lehenga?

Near the hem rises a skyline of domes, arches and minarets, inspired by Mughal architecture. Above it, cypress trees, flower vases and floral vines climb every panel, which is why Mehar Bano sits in our Taj Mahal collection.

How is the embroidery built up?

In three layers: aari work in two layers of tilla, heavy glitter sequins over it, and coloured resham embroidery on top. The sequins give the shine, the resham gives the colour.

What handwork is on the choli?

Pearls, seed beads, bugle beads, cut-dana, crystal beads, crystal stones and Swarovski, outlined in dabka, naqshi and kora over resham embroidery, with a fringe of coloured tassels along the hem.

What does the back look like?

An open back tied with a dori and finished with latkans. A side zip keeps the fit easy to wear and adjust.

What fabric is it, and what is in the set?

The lehenga and choli are net and the dupatta is organza. You receive three pieces: lehenga, choli and dupatta.

What is the price of Mehar Bano?

Rs.195,000.00 for the full three-piece set, in sizes XXS to XL or made to your measurements, with free tracked shipping worldwide. Prices show in your local currency; checkout is in Pakistani rupees (PKR).

How long will my order take?

Around 4 weeks to make in our Lahore atelier, then 2 to 5 days within Pakistan or 4 to 11 days to the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, Europe, UAE and other countries. If your date is close, WhatsApp us before ordering.
