The Waqas Shah Experience

A bridal outfit from our Lahore atelier is not picked off a rail. It is planned with you, cut to your body and worked by hand over several weeks. This page walks you through each step, from the first conversation to the day the parcel reaches your door, whether you visit us on MM Alam Road or order from the other side of the world.

1. Your first consultation

Every order starts with a conversation about the function, the date, the colours you love and the ones you would rather avoid. You can have it in whichever way suits you:

  • At the studio in Lahore: see the fabrics, feel the weight of the work and try finished pieces at 39-A MM Alam Road, Block B1, Gulberg III.
  • On WhatsApp or a phone call: send us screenshots, inspiration photos or a picture of your jewellery, and we reply with options.
  • On a video call: brides abroad can walk through fabrics and finished outfits with us live, without travelling to Lahore.

Before you get in touch, it helps to know your wedding date, which function the outfit is for and a rough budget. That way the first conversation can go straight to designs that will actually work for you.

2. Choosing or creating your design

There are two ways to arrive at your outfit.

  • Start from one of our designs: pick a piece from the website or the studio, then adjust it. Colour, neckline, sleeves and the dupatta can usually be changed, and we will tell you honestly when a change would weaken the design.
  • Have a design made just for you: for brides who want something no one else will wear, we design a piece from scratch around your function, colours and silhouette.

For custom designs and larger changes, we share a sketch of the outfit for your approval before any cutting or embroidery begins, so you know exactly what is being made.

3. Measurements and fit

Most of our outfits are made to your own measurements at no extra cost. In Lahore, our team takes them at the studio. If you are abroad, we guide you on WhatsApp or a video call, and you can send them in inches or centimetres, whichever you use.

For Lahore brides, fittings are arranged as the outfit needs them. A lighter formal may need only one, while a heavy bridal lehenga may come back for more than one fitting until the fall of the skirt and the fit of the choli are right.

4. Made by hand in our Lahore atelier

Once the design and measurements are confirmed, the outfit goes to our atelier, where between 150 and 200 karigars and staff work on orders. Zardozi and mirror work are the house signatures, and they sit alongside dabka, naqshi, tilla, resham and gota on raw silk, organza, net, tissue and velvet.

A bridal piece passes through several hands: pattern and cutting, the embroidery frame, finishing, and a final check of every seam and motif before it is pressed and packed.

5. Staying updated while it is made

Waiting for a bridal outfit can feel long. If you would like to follow along, ask us on WhatsApp and we can share photos or short videos of your outfit as the work progresses, and a video of the finished piece before it is dispatched.

6. Styling advice

We are happy to help you bring the whole look together: which jewellery suits the neckline, how to drape the dupatta, and what to keep simple so the outfit stays the focus. Our styling guides are a good place to start, for example the red mehndi and barat lehenga guide and what to wear for each wedding function.

Questions brides ask us

Can I order without visiting Lahore?

Yes. Many of our brides never come to the studio. The consultation, measurements and updates all happen on WhatsApp or video call, and the outfit is shipped to you by DHL.

Can you design something completely new for me?

Yes. We create custom designs and share a sketch for your approval before work starts.

How many fittings will I need?

It depends on the outfit. Lahore brides come in as many times as the piece needs to fit properly; brides abroad are fitted to the measurements they send us.

When should I order my bridal outfit?

At least 12 weeks before the wedding for bridal couture. Ordering earlier leaves room for changes and for customs if you are abroad.

Can I return a made-to-order outfit?

Because each piece is made for you, change-of-mind returns are not available. If something arrives defective or incorrect, we put it right. Full details are in our Refund Policy.
