Waqas Shah Official is a bridal and formal couture house in Lahore. Since 2015 the atelier has designed and hand-finished bridal lehengas, mehndi and nikkah outfits, walima gowns, luxury formals and pret, each one made to order for brides in Pakistan and around the world.
Our story
The label was started in 2015 by Waqas Shah, a London College of Fashion graduate (BA Hons, Fashion Design, 2014) who trained with Élan and Saira Shakira before opening his own studio. The idea behind it has not changed: keep the depth of traditional Pakistani handwork, and cut it for the way brides wear their outfits today, lighter, easier to move in and fitted to the bride herself. In 2019 the label showed at PFDC L'Oréal Paris Bridal Week.
Inside the Lahore atelier
Between 150 and 200 karigars and staff work on the orders that come through the studio. Zardozi and mirror work are the house signatures, alongside dabka, naqshi, tilla, resham and gota, worked by hand on raw silk, organza, net, tissue and velvet. More than 100 bridal outfits have been made here so far.
Every design begins with the function it is meant for. A mehndi outfit has to move and catch the light, a nikkah outfit needs its detail close to the face and a dupatta that stays in place, and a barat outfit carries the deepest colour and the heaviest work.
How ordering works
