About Neeru — Fabric, Handwork & Fit

A Multicolour Panelled Bridal & Formal Lehenga in Korean Raw Silk with a Hand-Embellished Teal Choli

Neeru is a lehenga choli built from colour. Its kalidaar skirt is cut in pure Korean raw silk, and every panel carries a different shade: deep red, royal blue, lilac, mustard, plum and teal. Each panel is worked in its own pattern of buttis, jaal and florals in tilla, golden sequins and resham, so the lehenga reads differently from every side and turns into a swirl of colour when you move. A wide golden hem border ties the panels together. The teal raw silk choli is embroidered with pink and gold florals. By hand, our karigars finish its V-neckline, lower edge and back in pearls, seed beads, cut dana, crystal stones, Swarovski crystals, naqshi, tilla and resham. Gold doris at the back end in latkans of gota, golden pipe beads and gold patti. A sheer teal dupatta in pure organza, scattered with embroidered buttis and framed in a broad gold border, completes the set. Made to order in our Lahore atelier for brides and their families at Pakistani, Indian and Sikh weddings.

Who Neeru Is For

Neeru is both bridal and formal. A bride can choose it for her mehndi, nikkah or engagement, or for her baraat if she wants something other than red. It is just as right on her sisters, cousins, bhabhis and friends, and on any guest at the shaadi, from the dholki and qawali night to the shendi. At a Sikh wedding it suits the roka, kurmai, chunni, jaago and reception, and at a Hindu wedding the sagai, mehendi, sangeet and reception. Families in Pakistan, the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, the UAE and Europe order it online.

How to Style Neeru

With this many colours in the skirt, let one shade lead. Kundan or polki with emerald drops picks up the teal of the choli and dupatta, while rubies pull out the red panels. For a nikkah, draw the organza dupatta over your head so its gold border frames your face. For a mehndi, drape it over one arm so the panels can swing as you dance. At an Indian wedding, wear it to the sangeet with a maang tikka and stacked gold bangles. Keep the make-up warm with bronze eyes and a rose or berry lip, and finish with gold khussas.
