What luxury pret is, how it differs from luxury formals and bridal wear, designs from our collection, and how to...

Luxury pret sits between everyday wear and full formal or bridal wear. It is the outfit you reach for when an occasion calls for something special but not heavy: a dholki, a dinner, an engagement, Eid, or a wedding where you are a guest rather than the bride.

This guide explains what luxury pret is, how it differs from luxury formals and bridal wear, and shows designs from our collection.

From Ishq Naama: Afsana, Saavan and Fairooza

Our Ishq Naama designs sit in the same easy-to-wear space. Afsana is an azure blue open-front organza gown worn over raw silk trousers, Saavan is a mint green net suit with an organza dupatta, and Fairooza pairs an ice blue raw silk shirt with a sharara, an easy pick for a dholki or a daytime nikkah as a guest.

How to wear it

  • Dholki and mayun: bright colours, comfortable trousers or a tulip shalwar.
  • Mehndi as a guest: add a sharara and statement earrings, or choose a long shirt.
  • Nikkah and engagement: soft colours such as white, peach or lilac.
  • Evening dinners and receptions: navy, black or deep jewel tones.
  • Eid: almost any piece; these outfits are made to be worn again.

For what to wear at each wedding function, see our guide to mehndi, nikkah, barat and walima dresses.

Caring for raw silk and organza

  • Dry clean embroidered pieces; do not machine wash.
  • Iron on the reverse at low heat, never directly on sequins or embroidery.
  • Store folded in a cotton bag, with tissue over the embroidered areas.

FAQs

What is luxury pret?

"Pret" comes from the French for ready-to-wear. Luxury pret means designer outfits with finer fabrics and more embroidery than everyday wear, but lighter than formal or bridal outfits. At Waqas Shah, ours is still made to order, usually to your measurements.

What is the difference between luxury pret and luxury formal?

Luxury formals carry more hand embellishment and fuller embroidery and suit the main wedding functions. Pret is lighter and suits smaller events, dinners and Eid.

Can I wear luxury pret to a wedding?

Yes, as a guest, especially at the dholki, mayun, nikkah or a daytime function. For the barat and walima, a luxury formal usually looks more right.

How long does it take to make?

About 4 weeks, then 4 to 11 days for delivery outside Pakistan.

What is your return policy?

Most pieces are made to order, so we do not accept returns for change of mind. If an item arrives defective or incorrect, report it within 5 days of delivery with photos and we will put it right. Full details are in our Refund Policy.
