Waqas Shah, founder of Waqas Shah Official

Waqas Shah is the founder of Waqas Shah Official, the Lahore bridal couture label he started in 2015. He designs every collection the label makes, from barat lehengas and walima gowns to mehndi and nikkah outfits, and he writes the guides published on this site.

Training and early work

His training is from London College of Fashion, where he completed a BA (Hons) in Fashion Design in 2014. Internships at two Pakistani design houses, Élan and Saira Shakira, followed before he set up on his own.

The atelier

Every outfit is made to order in Lahore by a team of 150 to 200 karigars and staff. His bridal work is known for zardozi and mirror work, and more than 100 bridal outfits have now left the atelier for brides in Pakistan and abroad.

Shows and events

His collection was part of PFDC L'Oréal Paris Bridal Week in 2019, and the following year he took the stage as a host at the Lux Style Awards 2020.

What he writes about

His articles explain what to wear for each wedding function, how a bridal lehenga is cut and fitted, which fabrics and handwork suit which occasion, and how to style individual designs from the collections. For a question about a particular piece, message the studio on WhatsApp or read more about the label.
