Emerald Green Mehndi Lehenga: How to Style Shahrbanu for Your Mehndi & Mayoun

How to style an emerald green mehndi lehenga for your mehndi, mayoun, dholki or sangeet: fabrics, jewellery, dupatta draping and...

Emerald green is the jewel tone of the mehndi. It is rich, regal and looks stunning against marigolds, fairy lights and gold. Shahrbanu, our emerald green mehndi lehenga choli from the Madhubala collection, was designed for exactly that moment: a bride's mehndi, mayoun, dholki or sangeet, and the sisters, cousins and friends celebrating beside her. This guide covers what Shahrbanu is made of, who it suits, and how to style an emerald green mehndi lehenga from jewellery to dupatta draping.

Why emerald works for mehndi, mayoun and sangeet

Green has long been part of Pakistani pre-wedding celebrations, from the mehndi leaves themselves to the fresh garlands and festive decor. Emerald is the most luxurious shade of that tradition. It is deep enough to look rich in photographs, it sets off gold embroidery beautifully, and it flatters a wide range of South Asian skin tones. It also stands apart from the yellows that fill most mehndi nights.

  • Brides choose it for a regal mehndi or sangeet look, keeping red and pink for the baraat.
  • Bride's sisters and bridesmaids wear it to stand out together, or pair it with yellow and mustard for a classic mehndi palette.
  • Wedding guests choose it for dholki and mehndi nights because it feels festive and elegant without competing with bridal red.

Fabric, neckline and embroidery

Shahrbanu is a three-piece Pakistani lehenga choli, made to order at our studio on MM Alam Road, Lahore.

  • Choli: emerald green pure raw silk with a wide square neckline, hand-embellished with zardozi, crystals and mirror work.
  • Lehenga: pure raw silk worked in a flowing floral pattern of thread, golden tilla and sequin embroidery, with mirror work throughout.
  • Dupatta: pure organza finished with a four-sided embroidered border.

Raw silk holds its shape, so the lehenga keeps a full, graceful flare through hours of dancing. The golden tilla glows against the emerald base, and the mirror work catches the light from every angle.

The emerald styling edit

Statement gold for a square neckline

Gold is the natural partner for emerald green. It echoes the tilla embroidery and makes the colour look even richer. For a bride, a kundan or polki choker with jhumkas and a matha patti is ideal; the wide square neckline leaves the perfect space for a statement necklace. For sisters and guests, statement jhumkas with a few bangles are enough. Pearls also look beautiful with emerald, and ruby or pink stones add a festive contrast.

White motia against deep green

Fresh gajray and floral jewellery in white motia, marigold or pink roses complete the mehndi mood. White motia in particular looks fresh and bright against deep green.

Framing the four-sided border

  • Over one shoulder shows off the square neckline and keeps you free to dance.
  • On the head is the traditional mayoun and mehndi look, and lets the four-sided embroidered border frame the face.
  • Trailing behind lets the organza flow for an entrance and in photographs.

Gold-lined eyes

Warm gold, bronze and soft brown eye tones complement emerald, and a touch of gold liner picks up the tilla work. A berry, rose or brick-red lip adds contrast for the evening, while a soft nude keeps a daytime mayoun look fresh.

Juttis and clutch

Embroidered juttis in antique gold, or in a soft green that matches the lehenga, keep the look traditional and easy to dance in. Choose a small embroidered or mirror-work clutch in gold so it complements the tilla without pulling attention away from the square neckline.
