How to style a mustard yellow mehndi lehenga for your mehndi, mayoun or dholki: fabrics, jewellery, dupatta draping and makeup,...

Mustard yellow is the colour of the mehndi. It is warm, joyful and glows beautifully in evening light and under string lights. Zari, our mustard yellow mehndi lehenga choli from the Madhubala collection, was designed for exactly that moment: a bride's mehndi or mayoun, and the sisters, cousins and friends who dance beside her. This guide covers what Zari is made of, who it suits, and how to style a mustard yellow mehndi lehenga from jewellery to dupatta draping.

Yellow has belonged to Pakistani pre-wedding events for generations. It is the colour of the haldi and ubtan applied at the mayoun, and of the marigold garlands at the mehndi. Mustard is the more grown-up shade of that tradition. It is deeper than lemon or canary yellow, so it photographs richly instead of washing out. It also flatters a wide range of South Asian skin tones and pairs naturally with gold embroidery.
Zari is a three-piece Pakistani lehenga choli, made to order at our studio on MM Alam Road, Lahore.

Raw silk holds its shape, so the lehenga keeps a full silhouette through hours of dancing. Mirror work catches the light from every angle, which is why it has always been a mehndi favourite.
Gold is the natural partner for mustard yellow. It echoes the tilla embroidery and keeps the look warm. For a bride, a kundan or polki choker with jhumkas and a matha patti is ideal. For sisters and guests, statement jhumkas with a few bangles are enough, since the choli is already richly worked. If you love colour, emerald green or ruby pink stones look striking against mustard.
Fresh gajray and floral jewellery in white motia, marigold or pink roses suit the mehndi mood perfectly. A gajra in a low bun or a side braid frames the face and complements the neckline embroidery.
Warm bronze, peach and gold eye tones blend with mustard. A berry or brick-red lip adds contrast, while a nude lip keeps the look soft for a daytime mayoun. Avoid very cool, silvery tones, which can clash with the gold work.
Gold khussas are comfortable for a long night of dancing. A gold or mirror-work potli bag finishes the look.

Zari has been worn to mehndis and weddings in Pakistan and abroad. Zile, who ordered from Dubai, wrote that she was unsure about ordering a formal dress online, but "the stitching and fitting were really good, and the dress looked even more beautiful in person." Nabila, from Canada, wore Zari to her mehndi event and praised both the outfit and our customer service.
Both. Zari is designed for brides at their mehndi, mayoun or dholki, and equally for the bride's sisters, bridesmaids and wedding guests.
Zari is priced at Rs.97,000.00 for the complete three-piece outfit: lehenga, choli and dupatta. The current price, in your local currency, is always shown on the Zari product page.
