Yellow Mehndi Lehenga: How to Style Resham for the Bride & Her Bridesmaids

How to style a yellow mehndi lehenga as a bride or as a bridesmaid: handwork, jewellery, dupatta and makeup, featuring...

Yellow is the colour of the mayoun, of haldi and marigolds, of the first nights of a Pakistani wedding. Resham, our sunlit yellow mehndi lehenga choli from the Shakuntala collection, was designed to carry that tradition in two directions at once: as a bridal look for the bride at her mehndi and mayoun, and as a formal look for her sisters, bridesmaids and wedding guests at the dholki, qawali night, shendi and the wedding ceremony itself. This guide explains what it is made of, where the handwork sits, and how to style it for each role.

Why a bright, sunlit yellow

Pakistani mehndi yellows range from deep mustard to soft lemon. This outfit sits at the bright, golden end of that range. It photographs warmly under fairy lights and in daylight alike, and it lets golden tilla read as part of the fabric rather than sitting on top of it. If you prefer a deeper, earthier yellow, our mustard yellow mehndi lehenga guide featuring Zari is the better place to start.

  • It suits every skin tone when paired with gold rather than silver jewellery.
  • It works in a group: a row of sisters in matching yellow looks unified, not uniform, because the mirrors and copper catch the light differently on each person.
  • It moves easily from day to night, from a morning mayoun to a late qawali.

Where the handwork sits

Every piece is made to order at our MM Alam Road studio in Lahore. Most of the surface is fine machine embroidery, and the hand finishing is placed exactly where the eye goes first.

  • Choli: yellow Korean raw silk embroidered all over in golden tilla and aari work with sequins. The front neckline, back neckline and both hems are finished by hand with beads, stones, pearls, Swarovski crystals, naqshi and pure gotta chatta patti. The sleeves end in a tilla and sequin border.
  • Lehenga: golden tilla, thread and sequin embroidery, with lines of hand-set mirrors running down the front and the back. An embroidered, sequinned waist belt sits above the flare, and a wide border finishes the hem. The front and back are worked the same way.
  • Dupatta: pure organza with all-over lines of sequin, tilla and aari work, a border on all four sides and a pure tanba (copper) kiran at the ends.

Styling Resham as the bride

Jewellery with weight

For your own mehndi or mayoun, let the jewellery match the richness of the tilla. A kundan or polki choker layered with a longer rani haar, a jhoomar on one side and a matching matha patti frame the hand-embellished neckline without competing with it. Gold bangles stacked with a few glass churiyan in yellow or green complete the look.

Fresh flowers for the mayoun

If your mayoun is a softer, daytime event, swap some of the metal for flowers: motia or marigold gajray on both wrists and a floral tikka. Yellow on yellow with white flowers looks fresh and traditional at the same time.

Hair that shows the back

The back neckline and back hem are hand-finished just like the front, so choose a low bun or a braided parandi rather than open hair. It keeps the gotta work visible as you turn and dance.

Styling Resham for sisters and bridesmaids

When it is worn as a formal look rather than a bridal one, the outfit stays the same and the styling becomes lighter.

  • Jewellery: one statement piece, such as large jhumkas or a single choker, rather than a full set.
  • Dupatta: worn over one shoulder or across both arms instead of over the head, so the choli neckline stays in view.
  • Makeup: warm gold and bronze eyes with a peach or nude lip; leave the deep red lip for the bride.
  • Coordinating the group: pair Resham with its olive green sister piece Mahira from the same collection for a bridal party that matches in craftsmanship but not in colour.

Making the mirrors and copper kiran shine in photos

This lehenga was designed to be seen in motion. The hand-set mirrors and the copper kiran come alive under warm, moving light, so ask your photographer for a few slow twirls near fairy lights or a dholki fire, and a shot from behind as you walk in with the dupatta trailing. You can see the effect in the video on the Resham product page.

Sizing, making time and delivery

Questions brides ask about Resham

Can the bride and her bridesmaids both wear Resham?

Yes. Many families choose one outfit for the bride's mehndi and the same design for sisters and close friends, styled more lightly. Each outfit is made to order in the wearer's own size, so a group order can be planned together over WhatsApp.

Is Resham heavy enough for a bride but comfortable enough to dance in?

The Korean raw silk gives the lehenga body and flare, while the pure organza dupatta stays light. It is festive enough for a bride and comfortable for a long night at the dholki.

How much is Resham?

The price is Rs.160,000.00 for the complete outfit: choli, lehenga and dupatta. The Resham product page always shows the current price in your own currency.

Can I change the colour or the amount of handwork?

Colour and design requests can be discussed with our consultant on WhatsApp before you order. You can also browse all of our yellow mehndi dresses and mayoun dresses.

Can I return a made-to-order outfit?

As the outfit is made especially for you, change-of-mind returns and exchanges are not available. Orders can be cancelled within 24 hours of purchase, subject to approval and a 6% cancellation fee, and anything that arrives defective or different from your confirmed order will be put right. Our Refund Policy has the details.

Can I see Resham before ordering?

Yes. Visit our studio at 39-A MM Alam Road, Block B1, Gulberg III, Lahore to see the fabric, mirrors and copper kiran in person. Bridal appointments are recommended during wedding season; WhatsApp or call +92 310 0001250.
